Privacy policy
DocIn ("we", "us") is an app and website at docin.co.in that shows whether doctors at nearby clinics are available. DocIn is owned by Sheshadri C (Founder & Owner), Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, and built by Nikhil Nandakumar (Developer & Creative/Innovation Head). This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the DocIn Android app and this website.
1. Information we collect
| Information | When | Why | Kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Approximate or precise location | Only if you allow location | To find and sort clinics near you. It is sent to our server with the search and not saved. Your phone may also show your position on the map. | Not stored |
| Email address | When you sign in | To sign you in with a one-time code and to contact you about your account | Until you delete your account |
| Name and mobile number | Only if you add them in Profile | To show your name to a clinic you manage and to contact you | Until you delete them or your account |
| Doctor alerts, token waitlist, status reports | When you tap these buttons | To remember which doctors you want alerts for, to tell you when tokens launch, and to fix wrong clinic statuses | Until you remove them or delete your account |
| Saved clinics | When you bookmark a clinic | Stored only on your phone | On your phone until you remove it |
| Clinic and doctor details | When a clinic signs up | Clinic name, address, phone, map location, timings, doctors' names and specialities and their live status are public in the app so patients can find them | While the clinic is listed |
| Basic technical logs | Automatically | Our hosting provider keeps short-term logs (such as IP address and request time) for security and to fix errors | A few days to weeks |
We do not collect your health conditions, symptoms, prescriptions or medical records. Please don't send them to us.
2. How we use information
- To run DocIn: show nearby clinics, sign you in, save your alerts, and let clinics update their doctors' status.
- To keep DocIn safe and working: prevent misuse, check reported statuses, and fix problems.
- To contact you about your account or important changes. We will not send marketing emails without your consent.
3. Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent personal data. We share information only with:
- Supabase, which hosts our database and sign-in, in its Mumbai (India) region.
- Google, when the map is shown in the app (Google Maps) and when you tap Directions, which opens Google Maps. Google's own privacy policy applies there.
- The clinic you manage, if you are clinic staff or a doctor who joined a clinic: other staff of that clinic can see that you are a member.
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
4. Clinics and doctors
If you list a clinic, you confirm you are allowed to publish its details and its doctors' names, specialities and timings. Doctors' status updates (in, stepped out, done for today) are shown publicly with the time of the last update. A doctor or clinic can ask us to correct or remove a listing at any time.
5. Your choices and rights
- Location: turn it off any time in your phone settings. DocIn will show a default area instead.
- Access and correction: edit your name and mobile in Profile, or email us for a copy of your data.
- Deletion: see Delete your account. We delete your account and personal data within 30 days.
- Withdraw consent: you can stop using DocIn and ask us to delete your data at any time.
These rights follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules.
6. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Database rules allow each person to see and change only their own private data, and only a clinic's staff can change that clinic's doctors. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you, as the law requires.
7. Children
DocIn is meant for adults. People under 18 may use it only with a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
8. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is important. If we add advertising in the future, we will update this policy before it starts.
9. Contact and grievance officer
For questions, data requests or complaints, contact our grievance officer: Sheshadri C, DocIn, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Email: support@docin.co.in. We reply within 7 days and resolve complaints within 30 days.
